The US State Department on Friday approved several arms contracts to Israel, with a total value exceeding 6.5 billion dollars, according to the Pentagon.
The first contract provides for a potential sale of Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) and associated equipment, with an estimated value of 1.98 billion dollars, with AM General LLC being the main contractor, Reuters and News.ro agencies report.
A second equipment package, valued at $3.8 billion, includes AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, provided by Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
The third approved military contract has a value of 740 million dollars, the details of which were not specified in the Pentagon statement.
The approvals mark a new round of US military support for Israel, amid lingering regional tensions and Washington's efforts to strengthen its Middle East security alliances.
