After washing, terry towels often lose their softness and become hard. The reason lies not in the quality of the fabric, but in the water hardness salts that settle on the fibers. You can return fluffiness to towels without expensive products – using regular baking soda.
It is enough to add 2 tablespoons of soda directly into the drum of the washing machine along with the towels. It is important that the product comes into contact with the fabric, so using the powder compartment is not recommended. Soda softens water, removes mineral deposits from fibers and thereby restores the volume and softness of the fabric.
Additionally, baking soda helps eliminate stubborn odors, including those on kitchen towels, and washes away any remaining fragrances that can irritate the skin. The product is considered hypoallergenic and is suitable for cotton, terry and linen products.
When using, it is important to note that only baking soda is suitable. It should not be mixed with vinegar in the same wash, nor should it be used on delicate fabrics such as wool and silk.
