The first to announce her resignation is Rodica Nassar, the president of the PSD Sector 2 branch. On Thursday, she wrote “resignation” on Facebook, implying that she will leave.

Rodica Nassar was the longest serving PSD branch leader in the country, having been in office since 1996.

The second departure from the PSD Bucharest leadership is from the Sector 4 branch, led by Andrei Trocan. The decision comes after Daniel Băluță failed to overcome his main opponent, Ciprian Ciucu, with a considerable number of votes even in the sector where he has been mayor for almost 10 years. Following the December 2025 elections, in Sector 4 Daniel Băluță obtained 27.6% of the votes, while the PNL candidate 27.25% of them.

Gabriel Mutu announced his resignation as president of PSD Sector 6, claiming that the decision “it comes from the desire to allow the opening of a new stage of organization and consolidation of the branch, in the interest of the party and the community we represent”.

“After almost 14 years since assuming the mandate, I have decided to resign from the position of president of PSD Sector 6. This decision is an assumed one and comes from the desire to allow the opening of a new stage of organization and consolidation of the branch, in the interest of the party and the community we represent. In all these years, I had the honor of representing Sector 6 both as mayor and as senator, during three mandates. I am leaving behind a mature, functional organization, as well as projects that must be carried forward with responsibility. I thank all my colleagues for their efforts and trust over the years. I will continue to be involved where my experience can be useful“, Gabriel Mutu said in a post on his Facebook page.

Social-democratic sources, quoted by Digi24, say that the PSD Sector 2 branch will be led by Rareș Hopincă, who leads the sector after winning the 2024 elections.

In Sector 4, Alexandru Hazem Kansou, general secretary of the Bucharest PSD organization and a close friend of Daniel Băluță, will be proposed, being the public administrator of the sector. Last but not least, the PSD Sector 6 branch will be taken over by Adrian Vigheciu, former local councilor in Sector 6 and vice mayor of the Capital. In the 2024 elections, he ran, unsuccessfully, for the position of mayor of Sector 5 on the PSD side.

The appointments will be formalized on Sunday, February 1, during a meeting that the PSD leadership will have at Vila Lac in the capital.
