Two of the second divisions from Moldova, Politehnica Iași and FC Bacău, faced off today in a friendly match that took place on the synthetic turf field in Copou. The result of the match between the teams of the cities that before 1989 were the most important football poles of Moldova was 2-3, after 0-1 at halftime.

Poli played three more test matches in 2026, all in Copou, with teams from Serie 1 of the 3rd League. Iasi won 5-2 against ACS USV Iasi, 4-3 against Bucovina Rădăuți and 2-1 against CSM Vaslui. The next check of Iasi residents will take place on February 7, in Tiraspol, with the Sheriff. Poli, which is also looking for other opponents, still has a test on February 11, against Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț.
Bacău also had three victories with teams from Series 1 of the third tier in 2026, in duels played on their own ground: 4-0 with FC Bacău 2, 5-1 with Știința Miroslava, 3-0 with USV Iași.
Until the resumption of the 2nd League, scheduled to take place around February 21, FC Bacău will play another three “friendly games”, against Ceahlăul, on February 7, CSM Vaslui (February 13) and Cetatea Suceava (February 14).
