The moment when a tram rams into a bus in Bucharest. Driver: “He had time to see me”

The moment when a tram hits a bus in the Capital was captured by the on-board cameras. Seven people arrived at the hospital, and traffic was blocked for several hours.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, November 4, in the busy intersection at Piața Moghioroș, where a tram collided with a bus already in the middle of the intersection.
There were 30 passengers on the tram and 20 on the bus, some preparing to get off at the station just a few meters away.
The images captured by the bus's dashboard camera show that while it was crossing, the traffic light changed to yellow. At that moment the tram, which had just left the station, hit the rear of the vehicle.
“What's going to happen? I left the station, the traffic light was going to change, but I turned green, during which I saw this one with the tram that had just left on two wheels. I managed to pass three quarters, as you can see, and he hit me at door three, so he didn't see three quarters of the bus and ran into me. Probably, being wet on the ground, he skated, went, from inertia he ran into me. He had time to see me, because there is no blind spot there, he could see that I was leaving the station. But I passed the green light, it will be seen on the cameras”. said the STB driver.

Firefighters, SMURD crews and police officers intervened on the scene.
Four of the injured were transported to the University Hospital, two to Floreasca, and one to Militar. All received medical attention, but none remained hospitalized.
Both the bus driver and the policeman were tested for alcohol and the results were negative.
Traffic in the area was blocked for approximately two hours, until the vehicles were removed from the roadway.
The police are continuing their investigations to determine exactly who is responsible for the accident.
