A publishing house withdraws from sale all the books of Dr. Cristian Andrei two days after the accusations of rape and sexual assault

The Bookzone publishing house announces that it has withdrawn from sale all the books of Cristian Andrei, accused of rape, sexual assaults on former clients and of practicing the profession of psychotherapist without having a certificate of free practice.
- The publishing house's reaction comes after the writer Ioana Chicet-Macoveiciuc – Urban Princess – posted a message in which she accuses the publishing house of continuing to promote Cristian Andrei, despite last year's investigation by those from PressOne.
- The first revelations about the doctor's abuses Christian Andrei were made last November by the PressOne publication in an investigation signed by Luiza Popovici, and two days ago the Capital Police made several searches and questioned Cristian Andrei, accusing him of sexual assaults and rape. Doctor Andrei is being investigated while at liberty.
- On Thursday, PressOne published a documentary featuring the testimonies of seven women who tell of his modus operandi: he touched them after manipulations and tried to have sex with them.
- Cristian Andrei publishes books about men's perception of women, differences in communication, sexuality and gender roles.
Cristian Andrei has published several books about how women can be understood, including the best-selling volumes “Harta femeiii” and “Tu nu mă intețegi”, published by Bookzone. The CEO of the Bookzone publishing house, Ștefan Enceanu, told HotNews that “for the moment we are stopping any form of promotion of Dr. Cristian Andrei, until the moment when there will be a final decision given by the courts that are approved”.
“The publisher has no way of checking”
“We can check what belongs to us from the publishing point of view, because you realize, we should have a specialist in psychology, that is, we should have employees in absolutely all branches so that they can check the specialized information. What you realize is an impossible realization. But in the contracts we have, and this I can provide you with, we mention very clearly that both the content and, I know, its accuracy, fall under the responsibility of the author, precisely because he has all the necessary expertise in this regard. Of course, we can verify a series of information that is somehow in our expertise, and in the area of our expertise, but beyond that it is not possible to… We have no way”, said Ștefan Enceanu.
“We don't want to establish ourselves in other institutions or take the role of other decision-makers in this sense. A publisher has a different kind of role, to ensure that the information is correct. You know very well that his presence, or I pray, was mentioned very often due to the quality he had as a doctor in this regard, and following this experience that he accumulated over so much time, this collaboration also came. But we have no way to make new checks or to anticipate personal matters that the authors do”, communicated Ștefan Enceanu.
Bookzone has withdrawn the books
“We have sent to all the collaborators: Cărturesți, Libris, Elefant, from our website, being easier for us, we have already withdrawn them, they are no longer available either individually or in the form of other packages, but probably the logistics may be more difficult for them and therefore may take longer. I don't know how to tell you that, not having my own kitchen, I can't make assumptions in this sense. But we have already notified, in this sense, absolutely all the collaborators”, transmitted Ștefan Enceanu.
