In Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, police and volunteers were looking for a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped.
The incident occurred on January 23. Late in the evening, the schoolgirl called the emergency number “112” and, through tears, told the dispatcher that the taxi driver in which she was returning from training “took her to some basement.” The minor asked for help, claiming that she did not know where she was.
“The city police were alerted, and volunteers joined the search. For several hours on a frosty night, they examined basements, technical rooms and garages throughout the city. Every minute counted as the child's life was at stake. However, during the operational work, it turned out that the information the girl gave turned out to be false. Soon, police officers established the identity and address of the “victim” who called. She was found at her place of residence in complete safety. The culprit of the commotion admitted that she became bored and decided check how quickly the police will arrive by making up a story about a basement and a taxi“, – said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Now PDN inspectors are working with the family. The inspection materials will be sent to the Commission for educational measures. The issue of registering a schoolgirl with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and bringing her parents to justice under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for failure to fulfill educational responsibilities is also being resolved.
“Police urge parents to once again explain to their children: emergency services are not a tool for games. While about a hundred people were looking for an imaginary victim in the basements, someone else could really need help, but not receive it on time due to the diversion of colossal resources,” said the appeal of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
