Alcohol consumption causes 6 types of cancer – scientists
Drinking alcohol significantly increases your risk of developing cancer, including six main types: cancer of the head and neck, esophagus, breast, liver, intestines and stomach.
According to a report from the American Association for Cancer Research, more than 5% of all cases of the disease are caused by alcohol consumption. Even moderate consumption increases this risk, and avoiding it may reduce the likelihood of developing diseases.
Experts call for reducing alcohol consumption and remind that among modifiable risk factors for cancer, drinking ranks third after obesity (7.6% of cases) and smoking (19.3%).
