Zelensky recalled that these negotiations were the first in a long time, in which not only diplomats, but also representatives of the military of all three parties took part.
“There were a lot of problematic issues. There are fewer of them. For quite a long time, Russia has wanted to do everything so that Ukraine does not exist in the east of our state. The reason is clear. They set this as a goal. And therefore it is completely clear that they want to achieve this goal. At the front, they cannot do this yet,” the president noted.
He noted that Ukraine defends its territorial integrity and does not fight on foreign territory, and the main difference between the parties lies in the fundamental positions of Ukraine and Russia. The United States is committed to finding a compromise, and the first negotiations in a trilateral format are an initial step to finding a joint solution.
“For a compromise, all parties need to be ready for a compromise. By the way, the American side too,” Zelensky noted.
