Massive attack on Ukraine: Ballistic missiles and over 100 drones launched by Russia. Dozens of camp kitchens were deployed in Kiev for residents without gas and heat

Russia launched, on the night of January 25, a new large-scale air attack on Ukraine, using ballistic missiles and over a hundred attack drones. According to the information provided by the Air Force of Ukraine, strikes were recorded in several regions of the country, and the anti-aircraft defense managed to neutralize most of the targets.

The attack began on January 24 at around 18:30 and continued throughout the night. The aggressor used two “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles or S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, as well as 102 Shahed attack drones, “Gerbera” and other types of UAVs. The missiles were launched from the Briansk region of the Russian Federation, and the drones came from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Briansk and Shatalovo, as well as from the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region. About 70 of the drones used were of the Shahed type.

Ukrainian air defense – aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups – was mobilized to repel the attack.

According to preliminary data, by 8:30 am, 87 enemy drones were shot down or neutralized in the north, south, center and east of Ukraine. However, 15 attack drone strikes were confirmed in ten locations, as well as the debris of downed drones falling in another area. The information regarding the two ballistic missiles is being clarified.

The attack was not completely repelled, and the Air Force warned that several Russian drones were still in Ukraine's airspace in the early hours of the morning, urging the population to follow safety rules.

Strikes in Kharkiv, explosions reported in Chernivtsi and Poltava

On the morning of January 25, the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terehov, announced that a Shahed drone had struck the Holodnogorsk district. Shortly before, the Air Force had warned of the approach of UAVs from the north. The air alert in the Kharkiv region lasted over five and a half hours, from 11:33 p.m. on January 24 to 5:11 a.m. the next morning.

During the night, the monitoring channels also reported explosions in Chernivtsi and Poltava, but the authorities are waiting for official confirmations. Overall, military monitors appreciate that the aggressor's air activity was relatively low compared to previous attacks.

The day before, on January 24, Kharkiv was targeted by a massive Shahed drone attack, which left 31 people injured.

Kiev, under pressure: thousands of homes without heat and gas

Amid repeated attacks on energy infrastructure, Kyiv authorities activated support measures for the population left without utilities. The government decided to deploy 41 mobile kitchens of the State Service for Emergency Situations (DSNS), intended for residents of buildings without gas and heating, Prime Minister Iulia Sviridenko announced.

Currently, four kitchens are already operational, and another 37 are in a state of preparation, which can be quickly located in different neighborhoods. In total, 56 hot food distribution points are operating in Kyiv with the support of World Central Kitchen and Red Cross organizations. In the last week, more than 26,000 portions of food reached the capital's residents.

Additional support is also provided in the Kyiv region: a food truck operates in Brovarî with up to 16,000 portions per day, and a kitchen train of “Ukrzaliznitia” is active in Irpin, providing approximately 4,000 portions per day.

Troeșcina, the most affected area

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Kliciko, said that the most difficult situation is recorded in the Troescina district, where about 600 blocks were left without heat, water and electricity. The local authorities set up heating points in several schools, some equipped with mobile power plants, where people can stay even during the night. Mattresses are distributed and food is provided.

Special attention is given to vulnerable people who cannot take care of themselves. Social services offer support for temporary relocation, food, medicine and care, and authorities urge citizens to report known cases.

Russia's repeated attacks on energy infrastructure continue to worsen the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, leaving entire cities without heat, electricity and water in the dead of winter.
