We need to respond with force. We count on the reaction and help of our partners

“At night, Russia massively attacked our regions – they launched more than 370 attack drones and 21 missiles of various types. Kyiv and the region, Sumy, Kharkov, and Chernigov regions were under attack. In Kharkov, a maternity hospital, a hostel where displaced persons lived, a medical college and residential buildings were damaged. Today, dozens of wounded people are known, including a child,” the head of state wrote.

In Kyiv and the region, the main goal of the Russians was energy, Zelensky noted.

“Unfortunately, this attack claimed the life of one person,” the president said. “All the necessary services are now working at the sites of the Russian strikes, eliminating all the consequences. Rescuers, doctors, utility services, energy workers, repair crews. Thanks to each and everyone who was involved. Grateful to all the air defense soldiers who repelled the attack.”

As Zelensky pointed out, each such Russian strike on Ukraine’s energy sector “proves that one cannot delay the supply of air defense.”

“We cannot turn a blind eye to these attacks, we must respond and respond with force. We count on the reaction and help of all our partners. Every missile to Patriot, NASAMS, and all other systems helps protect critical infrastructure and get people through the cold of winter,” the president noted.

Zelensky added that it is imperative to implement everything that he agreed on at the meeting in Davos with US President Donald Trump on air defense.

Context

Against the background of a cold snap in Ukraine, the troops of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation have intensified their attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure facilities. Since the beginning of the heating season, the Russian Federation has attacked Ukraine’s energy sector 256 times, the SBU reported on January 15.

In the new year, Russian attacks continued. In particular – on January 9th, 13th and 20th.

On the night of January 24, the occupiers tried to energetically cut off Kyiv; they commented on the Russian attack at the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
