Pragmatism is increasingly dominant in the global economy. You have to watch your own perspective very carefully, said Wojciech Balczun, Minister of State Assets, who supported state-owned companies in the implementation of international projects during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

In an interview published in the Friday edition of “Rzeczpospolita”, the minister assessed that the greatest national champions do not need classic promotion, but conduct projects on an international and sometimes global scale. The signal sent by the owner – i.e. the Ministry of State Assets – often raises the importance of conversations and moves them to a more effective level.
“We are talking about specific projects. We had very good meetings – I cannot disclose details due to the nature of economic relations. I have given full support to the president of Orlen, and I am also talking to representatives of international companies from the wind energy sector, sharing experiences regarding the construction of offshore and on-shore farms. There are a lot of these conversations,” Balczun told the newspaper.
When asked whether the talks in Davos can already be converted into billions of investments and contracts, he replied: “We are talking about large projects – about data centers, about energy, about the financial sector. (…) This is not a place where all transactions are closed, but where conditions are created for their implementation. The signal sent by politicians is of great importance here.”
In the minister's opinion, pragmatism and thinking in terms of national interests are increasingly dominant in Davos. In such conditions, you need to be consistent, decisive and pay close attention to your own perspective. “Today, Poland is in a very good moment in its economic history. To maintain this dynamics, we must pragmatically build alliances and consistently defend our own interests,” Balczun said. (PAP)
