Ultimately, it agreed, but – as the ministry's spokeswoman emphasized – the decision was subject to “strict conditions”, including the obligation to ensure continuity of supplies and maintain warehouse capacity.
However, the matter raises serious controversy. TanQuid also supports infrastructure important for the army, delivering fuel to bases where German and allied units are stationed. The government's decision was criticized by, among others: Green politicians.
MP Michael Kellner found it “totally incomprehensible”, emphasizing that Europe should reduce, not increase, its dependence on external players. — “Key infrastructure should not be in Russian, American or Chinese hands,” he said.
