Ukraine is launching a new level of “small” air defense – now control of interceptors is possible at a distance of thousands of kilometers. Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov announced this on April 23 on Telegram.
He recalled that a year ago, through the Brave1 platform, they initiated the development and testing of remote control technology for interceptor drones.
“Today we have a confirmed result – shooting down targets at distances of hundreds and thousands of kilometers. Ukraine is the first in the world to systematically scale up the remote control of interceptor drones. This is an example of the introduction of defense innovations and the formation of a new standard for air defense,” Fedorov noted.
According to him, the pilot is no longer tied to a position. He can control the drone in the sky from a secure environment in Kyiv, Lviv or even abroad. This increases the efficiency of interception, minimizes risks for operators and allows scaling capabilities without being tied to the front, the minister noted. According to him, more than 10 manufacturers have already integrated this solution into their systems.
Fedorov added that the ministry and everyone involved in the defense of Ukraine has a goal: 100% detection and at least 95% neutralization of enemy air targets.
