A man was killed in a shooting involving federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday. More and more protesters gather at the scene. Clashes break out with officers and the police use tear gas.

Against the backdrop of Saturday's tragedy, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called on US President Donald Trump to end the mission of federal agents in the city. – How many more residents, how many Americans, must be killed or injured for this operation to end? Frey asked.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz described Saturday's shooting as “horrible.” “I just spoke with the White House after another terrible shooting involving federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had enough. It's disgusting. The president must end this operation. Withdraw thousands of aggressive, untrained officers from Minnesota. Immediately,” wrote the governor of Minnesota on Platform X, where operations of the immigration services deployed there by the Trump administration are ongoing.
A White House representative said the president had been briefed on the shooting.
Agent “fired shots in self-defense“
The US Department of Homeland Security stated that the agent who fatally shot a man in Minneapolis that day fired the shots in self-defense and out of fear for his life and that of other officers.
At At 9:05 a.m. Central Time, when law enforcement officers of the Ministry of Homeland Security were conducting an operation in Minneapolis against an illegal immigrant wanted for aggravated assault, border guard officers were approached by a person with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, which can be seen here – the ministry wrote on the X platform, publishing a photo of the weapon.
It was noted that the services tried to disarm the suspected person, but – according to the ministry – he resisted aggressively.
“Fearing for his life and the life and safety of other officers, the agent fired shots in self-defense. Paramedics at the scene immediately provided medical assistance to the suspect, but he was pronounced dead on the spot,” the ministry said.
The ministry reported that the person had two magazines with him and did not have an identity document. “It looks like a situation where this person wanted to cause as much damage as possible and massacre law enforcement,” he said.
200″“rioters” arrived at the scene.
According to the ministry, about 200 people who were called “rioters” arrived at the scene of the incident. They were accused of “beginning to obstruct the officers' work and attacking them.” “Crowd control measures were implemented to ensure the safety of the public and officers,” the Ministry of Homeland Security added.
According to media reports, the services use against protesters in Minneapolis, among others: tear gas.
NBC, with reference to local authorities, reported that the man who died on Saturday morning was most likely a white resident of the city, aged 37, who was a US citizen. Earlier, AP wrote that the victim was 51 years old.
Police said the man shot by a federal agent had a permit to possess a gun.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of rising tensions and protests in the city against the actions of immigration services and after the shooting of Renee Nicole Good by ICE officer earlier this month.
