The Boguchanskaya HPP project received a special prize from the RUPOR International Prize

The Boguchanskaya HPP confirmed its status as a leader in the field of tourism development, having earned high praise from the jury of the International Prize for Communication Practices in the Field of Tourism RUPOR 2026. The “Timeless Energy” project to support incoming tourism in the Kezhemsky Municipal District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received a special diploma “For promoting the territory through an integrated approach to the development of industrial tourism.”

The jury was presented with the results of many years of work by the Department for Strategic Communications and Public Relations, within the framework of which support was provided to the Kezhem Historical and Ethnographic Museum. Yu.S. Kulakova, an excursion route was developed and a unique format was created for introducing tourists to the territory’s largest industrial enterprise.

“Fifteen projects were presented in our nomination: from South Ossetia to Norilsk and from the Murmansk region to Primorye, and six of them are related to industrial tourism. This suggests that the development of tourism potential is only possible as a result of joint efforts of the local community and industrial enterprises that operate in the territory. The Boguchanskaya HPP is doing a lot for the development of the district, and we will continue our project so that more and more guests discover the possibilities of the Kezhem land,” noted the head of the OSK, Irina Nagibina.

The Kezhemsky district is located in the Lower Angara region and has significant tourism potential. Local authorities and cultural institutions are looking for ways to increase the attractiveness of domestic tourism. Almost all tourist routes pass near the Boguchanskaya hydroelectric power station; due to its scale and importance for the country’s energy system, the station has become the main point of attraction for all guests of the district.

The implementation of the large-scale project began in 2021-2022. After the formation of an interactive exposition about the Boguchany Hydroelectric Power Station in the exposition of the Kezhem Museum, the territory began to attract the attention of guests, and attendance at the museum increased significantly. The efforts of the Boguchany Hydroelectric Power Station were awarded the title “Museum Patron.” In 2023, the project continued to develop an excursion route, including a tour of the corporate museum and the main facilities of the station. Over three years, the station was visited by several hundred guests, including from the European part of Russia.

The accumulated experience was summarized and implemented in a new stage of the project, which brought the district’s promotion to a qualitatively new level. Guests of the Boguchanskaya HPP are offered a comprehensive format of immersion in the history of the region, covering the period from the Stone Age to the present, while an audio performance with various sound effects creates the effect of being at the scene of the events. The Corporate Museum of the Hydroelectric Power Plant, where tourists can learn about the key milestones in the development of the Angara region, has become a universal communication platform that opens up the energy sector to visitors of all ages. The main task of the project for 2026 is to conduct excursions for station employees, RusHydro-class students and guests of the district.

International Award for Communication Practices in the Field of Tourism “RUPOR” is part of the “Russia Inspires to Travel” ecosystem aimed at developing inbound and domestic tourism. The shortlist for the award in 2026 included 80 projects from 31 regions of Russia and 6 projects from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, South Ossetia and Uzbekistan. In 2025, the Boguchanskaya HPP project “From the collective to a team of like-minded people” took third place in the category “Internal corporate communications and corporate media” of the XX Prize in the field of public relations development RuPoR.
