Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared, on Friday, on Digi24, that he does not have “any kind of emotion” regarding the possibility of being removed from office and that the current parliamentary majority “will be tested” on the occasion of the Government's responsibility for the reform of the administration and economic measures.

“I have no emotion whatsoever about this. I am the Prime Minister of Romania as long as there is a parliamentary majority. The moment there is no parliamentary majority, you are no longer in office (…). This parliamentary majority will be tested in the responsible engagements that will be made before,” said Bolojan.

The PNL leader stated that none of the leaders in the coalition asked him to resign during the meetings, despite the criticism they brought to him in the public space.

“There was no such discussion,” the prime minister added, saying that at Monday's meeting “things went in a good manner, apart from little jabs, which always happen when there are several political leaders in a room.”

“PSD to do what it sees fit”

Asked if he thinks that the PSD will leave the government, the liberal prime minister replied: “It is the decision of the Social Democratic Party, to do what it deems appropriate. I believe that Romania's stability in this period, from a political point of view, is an important element, related to economic predictability, the interest costs that Romania pays, and, of course, each party decides what it deems appropriate.”

Then, the producer of the show listed some of the names “reported by sources” for a possible replacement and told him that “part of the PNL would also like you to leave”.

“I don't know where you got this information related to the PNL. I went to all the meetings organized by the party and there were no such discussions, but the names you mentioned (Alexandru Nazare, Cătălin Predoiu, nr) are good colleagues, who appreciate that they are doing their duty to the Government, so I don't see any kind of problem on this topic”, replied Ilie Bolojan.

He drew attention to the fact that “scenarios are the order of the day”, although “Romania today still needs seriousness and responsibility”.

What he said about Nicușor Dan's statement

The prime minister was asked what he thought of the president's statement that “the coalition is a bit worse than it was six to seven months ago”.

“Mr. President said it's a worse situation, because when you look at the public statements, and he also sees them, what can you believe? It's just that it's one thing to put on a show and another thing is to work seriously for Romania,” answered Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
