Medinsky was offended by the words of the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Kaya Kallas, that “Russia has attacked more than 19 countries over the past 100 years, and none of them attacked the Russian Federation.”
In the so-called “educational education” of his history, Medinsky remembered the Russian attack on Japan, England, France, the USA, Estonia, Poland, and after 1812 he decided to “dig” back to 1709 and the Battle of Poltava.
After that, he got personal and spoke about Estonia, where Callas was born.
“We understand that Estonia is a small country; maintaining the Soviet level of school education when Kaya was studying was no longer easy in this fragment of the USSR,” Medinsky said.
Context
Medinsky is known for his interpretations of historical events. Negotiations in Turkey in the spring opened with a lecture with a distorted presentation of the history of Ukraine and Russia, in particular stating that supposedly “Russians are killing Russians,” he said First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Kislitsa. Medinsky also said that Ukraine and the Russian Federation were supposedly “destined to be close allies.” A source in the Russian government explained that Putin sent Medinsky to negotiations to “make fun of the world.”
