Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday there would be no Qatari or Turkish soldiers in post-war Gaza and reiterated his country's opposition to the composition of a US-backed advisory committee on the Palestinian territory, according to AFP.

The White House last week announced a “Peace Council” for the Gaza Strip chaired by Donald Trump, a Palestinian committee made up of technocrats to govern the war-torn territory, as well as an “executive council” that appears intended to have a more consultative role.

Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his objections to the composition of the “executive council” on Saturday.

“In the Gaza Strip, we are on the eve of the second phase of the Trump plan. The second phase means one simple thing: Hamas will be disarmed and Gaza will be demilitarized,” Netanyahu told the Israeli parliament on Monday.

“There will be no Turkish or Qatari soldiers in the Gaza Strip,” he added, in what appeared to be a reference to the International Stabilization Force (ISF) that the US president's plan for the Palestinian territory calls for.

The contingents that will make up the force, which will be tasked with providing security in Gaza and training a new police force, have not yet been determined.

On Friday, President Donald Trump nominated Major General Jasper Jeffers to lead the ISF in Gaza.

“We have some disagreement with our friends in the United States regarding the composition of the advisory council that will accompany the Gaza trials,” Netanyahu also said on Monday.

The Israeli prime minister's office had since Saturday criticized the composition of the council, which includes Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Qatari diplomat Ali Al-Thawadi, along with other regional and international officials. Netanyahu's representatives also said he had directed the foreign minister to contact his American counterpart.
