Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor reminded about the requirements for working outdoors in cold weather

January 20 18:00
The Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor spoke about the basic requirements for organizing work in the open air at low temperatures in order to prevent hypothermia.
In frosty weather, in order to be allowed to work, employees must undergo a preliminary medical examination and have no contraindications for working in these conditions.
Before starting work, it is necessary to provide instructions, which include an explanation of the specifics of working conditions, information about the health risks from exposure to cold, and training in recognizing the first signs of frostbite and how to provide first aid.
Workers must be provided with a full set of insulated PPE: warm overalls, insulated shoes, hats, mittens, etc.
When organizing the work regime, a heating room with a temperature of +21…25°C, equipped with devices for warming the hands and feet, must be provided. The duration and number of heating breaks are determined by air temperature and wind strength. Going to work after a lunch break is allowed no earlier than 10 minutes after eating hot food: tea and the first course.
These requirements are regulated by SanPiN 1.2.3685-21 “Hygienic standards and requirements for ensuring the safety and (or) harmlessness of environmental factors to humans” and MR 2.2.7.2129-06 “Work and rest regimes for workers in cold weather in open areas or in unheated premises.” Rthe employer is obliged to comply with the established requirements, emphasized in Rospotrebnadzor.
