The weather will continue to be extremely cold, frosty especially at night, with minimum temperatures that will drop below -20 degrees, in the following days. Milder temperatures, even positive, are expected from the middle of next week, announced ANM meteorologist Mihai Timu.

The wave of extreme cold covers the whole country, and new frost code yellow alerts have been issued by ANM until January 20.

“Until the middle of next week, we are talking about a cold wave, because here are more than 2-3 days with very low temperatures both day and night. For this reason, new yellow codes have been added, because today we remain with temperatures much below normal, 7-9 degrees lower. This means negative temperatures between -8 and -4 degrees. And through Transylvania, through depressions or the north of Moldova, we could reach maximums of -10 degrees”, announced the meteorologist ANM Mihai Timu, at Antena 3.

The night ahead will be frosty across most of the country, with lows generally between -20 and -8 degrees across the country, and from Monday evening the frost will spread across the country.

“And the night from Monday to Tuesday will be cold throughout the country, we have a yellow code everywhere. There will be minimums in general of -20 and -10 degrees,” explained the ANM meteorologist.

According to him, “a softening of temperatures is possible after Tuesday, rather Wednesday and Thursday.”

“We will feel a warming especially in the hilly, mountainous areas, positive values will start to appear during the day, and the night will be milder or the frost will even disappear. That is, the temperatures will not drop below -10 degrees, but we still remain with negative temperatures in the center, south and east of the territory”, said Mihai Timu.
