“The time has come to turn dreams into reality. At the heart of plans for peace in the Gaza Strip is the Peace Council – the most impressive and important Council ever assembled,” the American president wrote in the letter.
“Our efforts will bring together a unique group of nations ready to take on the noble responsibility of building SUSTAINING PEACE. This is an honor reserved for those ready to lead by example and invest brilliantly in a secure and prosperous future for generations to come. We will convene our great and committed partners, most of whom are HIGHLY RESPECTED WORLD LEADERS, in the not-too-distant future,” Trump added in a document addressed to the Hungarian prime minister.
“As President of the Council, I formally invite Hungary to join as a founding member,” the US president wrote.

In a comment on the letter published on social media, Orban noted that “peace is coming with Trump.” “Hungarian efforts for peace are appreciated. President Trump invited Hungary to participate in the work of the Peace Council as a founding member. Of course, we accepted this honorable invitation,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
The White House revealed on Friday that the members of the Peace Council responsible for managing the Gaza Strip include: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Council is headed by President Trump.
Bloomberg wrote on Saturday that the Trump administration wants countries to pay at least $1 billion for permanent membership in the Council. According to the draft statute of the Council, obtained by Bloomberg, President Trump is to be its chairman and will decide who will be invited to join this body.
The establishment of the Council was included in the peace plan prepared by Trump, which was agreed to by both Israel and Palestinian Hamas. A ceasefire has been in place in the Gaza Strip since October 10, 2025, and the establishment of the Council is to be an element of the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire.
Similar letters were received on Saturday and Sunday by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian President Abd el-Fatah al-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan.
