On Saturday, President Trump announced that he would impose 10 percent tariffs on eight European countries — Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and the United Kingdom — starting February 1, 2026, over their stance on his claims to Greenland. These countries have sent small groups of soldiers to Greenland to take part in the Danish-led Arctic Endurance exercises.
The tariffs announced by Trump are to increase to 25 percent in June. and remain in force until the US concludes an agreement to purchase the island, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark.
