According to the movement, the Russian government plans to transfer the city and the entire surrounding region under the full control of groups from Chechnya. Additional Akhmat units are already being brought into the city, whose task is to finally monopolize Grozny’s influence over local resources, the report says.
The main interest of the Kadyrovites is focused precisely on the huge industrial potential of the destroyed Mariupol, writes Atesh. “With permission from the Kremlin, the city is actually given up for plunder in exchange for loyalty, while the interests of local residents or ordinary Russian collaborators are not taken into account,” the report says.

The defense of Mariupol lasted from February to May 2022.
