In the Kuraginsky district, police caught a drunk driver and his passenger with two bags of cannabis (video)

Kuraginsk state traffic inspectors detained a repeat drunk driver who was transporting a passenger with a large consignment of drugs.

On December 20, 2025, on the Bragino-Ponachevo highway, a traffic police squad stopped a VAZ car. During a document check, it turned out that the 34-year-old driver had already been charged with drunken driving in 2024. Then the court imposed a punishment of 300 hours of compulsory labor and deprived him of the right to drive for two years. However, this did not stop him, and he again got behind the wheel drunk. The result of the examination was 0.357 mg/l.

A criminal case has been initiated against the offender under Art. “Driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or having a criminal record,” he faces imprisonment for up to three years. Administrative materials were also filed against him for having an unregistered car, lack of compulsory motor insurance and driving without a license.

In addition, during the search of the car, police found two plastic bags. According to the examination, they contained the narcotic drug cannabis with a total weight of 1.4 kg, which belonged to a 39-year-old passenger who was transporting drugs in a friend’s car.

A criminal case has been initiated against the passenger under Art. “Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, production, processing of narcotic drugs,” he faces imprisonment for up to ten years.
