“Pies are like fluff.” The best dough for any filling

Olga Pat, a user of the Ukrainian culinary portal Cookpad, shared a recipe for dough for baked pies.

“The pies are like fluff,” the user emphasized.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g flour;
  • 50 g fresh yeast or 1 tbsp. l. dry;
  • two eggs + yolk for greasing;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • 100 g lard;
  • 1/4 tsp. salt;
  • a bag of vanilla sugar;
  • a glass of milk or kefir;
  • for the filling – thick jam, fresh berries with sugar, poppy seeds or cottage cheese.

Preparation

  1. Dissolve yeast with a spoonful of sugar in warm milk and leave until bubbles appear.
  2. Pour the dough into flour, add melted lard, eggs mashed with sugar, salt, vanilla sugar.
  3. Knead the dough. Cover and leave in a warm place to rise.
  4. Knead, form into pies, place on a baking sheet and leave to rise for five minutes. Grease with yolk.
  5. Bake for approximately 45–60 minutes at 180°C.
