Social democrat Ștefan Ovidiu Popa declared, on Thursday, that the Government's third package of measures “must necessarily include the PSD Economic Stimulation Program”.
The PSD, said the group leader in the Chamber of Deputies, “no longer accepts tax packages imposed by hiring responsibility, if they only come with austerity.”
“Package 3 must necessarily include the PSD Economic Stimulation Program. The deficit is not reduced by squeezing the economy, but by putting it in motion. Without investments, without jobs, without real economic growth, all these “measures” are just dust in the eyes of Romanians”, declared Ștefan Ovidiu Popa, on Thursday, in a post on Facebook.
He claims that the PSD proposes “solutions tested in Europe”, such as “tax credits for real investments, support for SMEs, facilities for research and production”.
“Without pressure on the budget, but with a direct effect on the economy. Enough with the increases in fees and taxes! Romania needs growth, not higher bills. Without the PSD Program, Package 3 will not pass!”, concluded the leader of the PSD deputies, Ștefan Ovidiu Popa.
The Government's third package refers to the reform of the central and local administration, and it provides for the elimination of over 6,100 positions of personal advisors from a total of 10,126 positions now provided for in the organizational chart, at the national level. We are talking about advisers in the offices of the prime minister, ministers and local elected officials. If the initiative is adopted, the number of local policemen will also be reduced according to the number of inhabitants. For example, town halls in towns with less than 4,500 inhabitants will only be able to establish local police if the local budget fully covers the operating costs.
