The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) announced that they are investigating the leader of a party in the Verkhovna Rada. The investigation targets former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, according to sources cited by the Ukrainian service of the BBC and Ukrainska Pravda.
The leader of the Batkivshchina opposition party in the Parliament of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko, is suspected of involvement in acts of corruption.
According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), the investigated politician allegedly offered bribes to deputies to vote “for” or “against” certain bills.
The official press release of NABU and SAP does not specify the name of the concerned politician, the institutions announcing that they will provide additional details later.
“NABU and SAP documented the facts by which the leader of one of the parliamentary parties of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine offered undue advantages to several deputies, members of parties that he does not lead, in exchange for voting “for” or “against” specific bills”, reads the message published on NABU's Telegram channel, according to the Kyiv press.
