Duchess Meghan Markle is returning to Britain after almost four years. The event he will attend

The Duchess of Sussex, who has not been on British soil since September 2022 – on the occasion of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II -, should return to the country in July, in Birmingham.

Giving up her work as a jam maker for a while, on the occasion of an event related to the Invictus Games, the games for wounded military veterans organized by Prince Harry, Meghan Markle should, according to the Times, move to Birmingham to support H (the nickname she gives to her husband). The Invictus Games will be held there in 2027.
Meghan Markle was with Harry in Vancouver for the last games in February 2025.
Prince Harry, who has lost the right to protection paid for by British taxpayers when he is in the UK since he left for California, is hoping for a new decision from Ravec, the royal executive and VIP committee responsible for the security of members of the royal family and personalities, News writes.
It is not known if their children, Archie and Lilibet, will participate in the trip. They haven't visited the country for several years either. They last came in June 2022, on the occasion of the jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Lilibet was only one year old then.
The subject is sensitive for Harry, who believes that the press and paparazzi are responsible for the car accident in which his mother, Princess Diana, died in Paris in 1997.
The prince made this security issue one of the key elements of his reconciliation with the family. Harry really considers himself in danger and has made this matter the condition for him to return with his wife Meghan and their children. Regaining police protection could allow him to return to the UK with his family, and King Charles could see his grandchildren.
During her last visit to the UK, in September 2022, Meghan Markle appeared with Harry, William and Kate at Windsor, in front of the crowd gathered to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Harry hasn't seen his family since that very cold meeting in 2022 either. He saw his father King Charles very briefly, twice, when he learned he had cancer, in early 2024, and in September 2025, also for a few hours, for a cup of tea. Harry desperately tries to reconcile with his family, at least his father. Relations are much more strained with his brother William, with whom he no longer has any contact.
However, Harry has returned to his country several times, especially as part of his fight against the tabloid press, which he accuses in court of violating his privacy. In January 2025, he won a lawsuit against The Sun newspaper, obtaining not only compensation but also an apology.
Meghan and Harry have been particularly unpopular in Britain since their high-profile departure to California. Britons didn't take too well to their revelations about the royal family and their criticism, even as they flocked to buy Harry's autobiographical book, The Spare, due out in 2023.
Every initiative of the duchess is commented on and ridiculed in the British press, which is particularly hard on her. This raises the question of how Meghan will be received in Birmingham in July and whether members of the royal family will be there to welcome her.
