Manifesto Dani Mocanu has filed an appeal in cassation with the High Court of Cassation and Justice, an extraordinary way of appeal, by which he requests to cancel his four-year prison sentence received in November of last year for attempted murder and disturbing public peace and order, Agerpres announces.

An appeal in cassation was also filed by the manelist's brother, who has to serve a seven-year sentence.

The trial has not yet been set.

The Mocanu brothers fled Romania before the sentencing was pronounced, being located and arrested in Italy, from where the Romanian authorities are trying to bring them back to the country.

Currently, they are under house arrest, and on January 20 they have a deadline at the Court of Appeal in Naples, where the surrender request made by the Romanian authorities is judged.

The supreme court, led by judge Lia Savonea, released from prison several important figures from the political world and businessmen, by admitting appeals for annulment.

For what Dani Mocanu received four years in prison

Dani Mocanu was tried for attempted murder and disturbing public peace and order following a scandal that took place in August 2022 in a gas station in the municipality of Pitesti, as a result of which a man ended up in the hospital with a head injury.

Then, Dani Mocanu was detained by the prosecutors in Argeș for attempted murder, after being involved in a fight at a gas station in Pitesti. His brother was detained along with the manelist. Following the altercation, a man arrived at the hospital with serious head injuries. Thus, the law enforcement officers then opened a criminal case for attempted murder and disturbing public order.

The scandal took place on the night of August 18 to 19, in a gas station in Pitesti. A call to 112 announced that several people were fighting, but when the police crews arrived, all those involved in the scandal had left.

Later, a man presented himself at a medical unit in the municipality with serious head injuries, caused by the incidents at the gas station.

The incident was captured by the gas station's surveillance cameras. Despite the images, Dani Mocanu pleaded not guilty and said that he was just trying to smooth over the conflict.

Dani Mocanu's problems with the law

Dani Mocanu was also tried in a case of pimping and money laundering. He initially received a sentence of 6 years and 5 months in prison, but was acquitted on appeal because the statute of limitations had expired.

In the summer of 2022, Dani Mocanu was detained, after he was picked up from his home and taken to hearings, in Mureş, in a case of threat, disturbance of public order and peace and possession of dangerous objects. This after allegedly threatening a young man with a knife, in a club in Târgu Mureș, and the footage was uploaded on TikTok.

In 2021, the manelist Dani Mocanu was sentenced to six months in prison with execution in a case in which he was accused of releasing a video inciting hatred against women. The court also ordered YouTube to remove the video “Curwa” (Official Video) Hit 2019, as well as all related videos. After the appeal, he escaped with a criminal fine.

He also came to the attention of the public and the law after filming a video of an injured lion. Then the Argeș Police announced that they had opened a criminal case for ill-treatment and animal cruelty.
