As can be seen in the photo, it was attended, in particular, by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, the newly appointed head of the Ministry of Energy Denis Shmygal, and the head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia
“The consequences of Russian strikes and worsening weather conditions are severe. Repair teams, energy companies, utilities, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continue to work around the clock to restore electricity and heating supplies. Many issues need urgent resolution,” the head of state wrote after the meeting.
Zelensky announced the creation of a headquarters to coordinate the situation in Kyiv, which “will operate constantly.”
“In general, a state of emergency will be introduced in the energy sector of Ukraine. The First Deputy Prime Minister – the Minister of Energy of Ukraine – has been appointed as the head of work to support people and communities in such conditions, as well as to resolve practical issues,” the president noted.
According to him, government members will intensify their work with partners to obtain the necessary equipment and additional support.
“During this situation, the Cabinet of Ministers will ensure maximum deregulation of all processes for connecting backup energy equipment to networks. We are also working to significantly increase the volume of electricity imports to Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.
The president said he had instructed the government to prepare a review of curfew rules for extremely cold weather.
“People should have maximum opportunities to use support points, and businesses should have the opportunity to plan work taking into account the situation in the energy system. In Kyiv, the number of Invincibility Points should be increased and the existing ones should be checked,” Zelensky noted.
The President is also awaiting proposals from the Ministry of Education and local authorities regarding the formats of the educational process during the emergency.
“It is important that state institutions, business and all levels of local authorities now work smoothly and coordinatedly. The overall result of the entire country depends on the results of each,” Zelensky concluded.
