The scale falls off in pieces: one addition to the water – and the bottom of the kettle is visible again

Owners who boil water every day probably notice that a white coating appears on the walls and bottom. It can be difficult to scrape off, especially in a narrow spout and under the heating element. But there is a way to simplify this task without extra effort.

Take a liter of cold water, the juice of half a lemon or one tablespoon of citric acid, as well as any soft sponge. Pour the liquid into the kettle, add the acidic component and turn the device on to full heat. After boiling, do not drain the solution immediately; leave it inside for fifteen to twenty minutes. Then open the lid, carefully drain the warm water and wipe the inner walls with a damp cloth. At the end, thoroughly rinse the container with clean water and boil it once without additives. Limescale and mineral deposits will dissolve under the action of hot acid, so they can be removed without friction or effort.

This method does not damage the non-stick coating, eliminates off-flavors and leaves a fresh citrus aroma. Regular use helps maintain the hygiene of the device without long soakings and caustic household chemicals.
