After two trips, U-BT Cluj-Napoca returned to its home ground, for the confrontation with Hamburg, from the 14th round of the BKT EuroCup. The Romanian champion dominated the game from start to finish, won 103-92 and reached an 8-6 record in group A.

After 6 consecutive victories, U-BT Cluj-Napoca lost two matches in a row, on the grounds of Umana Reyer Venetia and that of Igokea. The Romanian champion put an end to this negative streak today, January 13, in the duel with Hamburg Veolia Towers.

Karel Guzman was the starting man. The Cuban, who is in his 6th season in Cluj, performed with a lot of energy both in attack and defense and set the pace. The gap on the table grew as the visitors failed to find their marks.

The situation changed after Mihai Silvășan gave minutes to the reserves. They didn't play as well in defense and Hamburg came back into the game. Then, the starters of the “students” performed without intensity and tried a lot of 3-point throws, and Hamburg got closer to the difference of one possession: 37-34.

The home team successfully overcame this crisis and entered the locker room with an 11-point lead: 50-39. In the second half, Daron Russell and Mitch Creek continued to put on a show for U-BT, and the gap became insurmountable.

The end of the match was just a formality for the Romanian champions and, even if Hamburg played better in attack than in the first half, the defense did not cope. U-BT Cluj-Napoca prevailed 103-92 and achieved its 8th win of the season.

U-BT's leaders were Daron Russell (23 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds), Mitch Creek (20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists), Karel Guzman (12 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists), Dusan Miletic (11 points, 9 rebounds) and Nighael Ceaser (11 points).

On the other side, Perrin (19 points, 13 rebounds), Daniels IV (15 points, 6 assists), Ogbe (14 points) and Williams (14 points) stood out.
