Rapid Bucharest sent an official delegation to Genoa, a Serie A club financed by Dan Șucu, the businessman who is also the owner of the Giulești team. The purpose of the visit was an exchange of experience and best practices between the two clubs, with all the heads of departments in the club being sent, as announced by the white-cherry team.
On December 18, 2024, Dan Șucu became the majority shareholder in Genoa, taking over 77% of the shares of “Grifon”, the oldest Italian club still in operation. Only a few weeks apart, the connection between the two clubs began to materialize concretely.
Quick, official visit to Genoa
Through a statement published on social networks, Rapid explained the reason for moving to Italy:
A Rapid delegation was present for a few days in Genoa, for an exchange of experience within the club with which we share not only the same patronage, but also a common vision of football, tradition and community.
The visit was more than just an exchange of T-shirts: each Rapid department head worked directly alongside his counterparts from Genoa, in an open dialogue about processes, ideas and best practices. It is a first step in a collaboration that will continue, with the next scheduled meeting in Bucharest, when the delegation of the Italian club will come to Giulești.
Two clubs with a strong past, connected by the present and oriented towards the future.

In addition to the technical and administrative discussions, there was also an honorary exchange of shirts, symbol of the new relationship between the two entities.
The sporting situation of the two clubs
Rapid is in 2nd place in the Superliga, with 39 points, just one point behind the leader Universitatea Craiova. On the other hand, Genoa is 15th in Serie A with 19 points after 20 matches, fighting to stay in the first league.
