After the wave of frost during this period, the weather will gradually warm up, from the middle of this week, but only for a short time, because a new and more severe episode follows, with very low temperatures especially in the east of the country, says the forecasting director of ANM, Florinela Georgescu.

On Tuesday, the frost persists throughout the country, with temperatures not exceeding -8, -10 degrees especially in the north and center of the country. “Maximum temperatures are minus in the whole country or in most of the country, possibly slightly above 0° only in Banat,” meteorologist Florinela Georgescu said on Digi24 on Tuesday.

In the next two to three days, the weather will gradually warm up, according to the meteorologist:

“The news is good for the next two to three days. Gradually, the temperatures will rise both during the day and during the nights, so we hope that in the second part of the week we won't have any more frosty nights, that is, with temperatures below -10°, and during the day, the maximums will gradually become positive.”

Since a new wave of frost is coming to Romania

The ANM meteorologist says that over the weekend and next week Romania will face a new episode of severe frost.

“However, we should not rejoice too much, because the material signals from this morning show that there is a fairly high probability that during the weekend and next week we will have a new episode with low temperatures, maybe even isolated lower than now”, explained Florinela Georgescu.

She pointed out that frosty episodes are normal for this time of year, even in the context of milder winters in recent years:

“We are definitely in the time of year where we are expected to have frosty periods and the whole structure across the European continent lends some confidence to this scenario of a new episode of very low temperatures.

It is not unusual to have such temperatures. Practically every winter, even if there have been milder winters in recent years, I have had an episode of frost. We had comparable temperatures in February last year. Let's remember that for a few days it was very cold all over the country, even in the Capital area, the temperatures are not close to the January records, January is the month characterized by temperature records in many areas of the country below -30°, including Bucharest. Fortunately, we are not in such a situation now”.
