Metropolitan Nikita of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Martyrs of 14,000 infants killed by Herod in Bethlehem.
His Eminence was co-served by the rector of the church, Priest Viktor Nosov, and the clergy of the Krasnoyarsk diocese. During the Liturgy, special petitions and prayers for Holy Rus' were offered. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', this special prayer is performed in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church at every service.
In pursuance of the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of December 26, 2025, petitions from the prayer service were proclaimed “about admonishing those who intend to destroy the baby in the womb” and a prayer from this prayer service was read. At the end of the service, Metropolitan Nikita addressed the believers with a sermon.
Similar events last Sunday, January 11, took place throughout Russia. The prayer service was timed to coincide with the day of remembrance of the babies killed by order of King Herod in Bethlehem. After the prayer, anti-abortion seminars were also held in some churches.
