A 2-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl ended up brain dead following surgeries performed at the Constanța County Hospital, and their families accuse the doctors of serious errors, according to Euronews.

The two children are currently at the Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital in Bucharest.

A week ago, the doctors of the Constanța County Hospital had also been accused of not properly treating a 33-year-old man.

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that he had discussed with the head of the College of Doctors, “who has self-reported and will take steps to verify the therapeutic conduct, an analysis of the medical act itself.”

He explained that the Ministry of Health and the Control Body verify the activity of the health unit from an administrative point of view, while the State Sanitary Inspection will analyze whether the protection and control protocols regarding nosocomial infections have been followed.

Last Sunday, Minister Rogobete announced that he had decided to send the Control Corps to the Constanța Emergency County Clinical Hospital, where, in some wards, over 70% of the staff is exempt from duty or night shift.

“It is clear that there are certain administrative dysfunctions,” said the Minister of Health, who specified that he was waiting for the conclusions of the Control Body to take administrative measures.
