Oil, wine or berry stains on kitchen towels often survive even the most intense machine washing.
Instead of aggressive bleaches and ineffective boiling, you can use the express method, which is actively discussed by housewives on social networks. Its essence is not in soaking, but in creating the effect of a powerful “steam room” for stains using improvised means and a microwave.
The technology is based on an aggressive impact on pollution in a confined space. Together they cope with what ordinary powder often cannot do.
Experienced housewives shared step-by-step instructions that will return freshness to towels in 10 minutes.
What you will need
- Laundry soap
- Citric acid 2 tsp.
- Thick plastic bag
- Microwave oven
How to use
- Lightly wet the towel and rub the stains thickly with laundry soap to form a dense foam.
- Fold the towel so that the stains are inside and place in the bag.
- Dissolve 2 teaspoons of citric acid in 50 ml of hot water. Gently pour the solution over the towel in the bag.
- Close the bag tightly, but not completely, and microwave for 2–3 minutes at 600–800 W. The towel should become very warm and hot to the touch.
- Let the bag cool directly in the oven or on the counter for 1-1.5 hours. At this time, an active chemical reaction is taking place.
- Remove the towel and rinse thoroughly under running water to remove all soap and acid residue. After this, it can be dried.
When the method is not suitable
- The method is only suitable for white cotton and linen towels. For colored, synthetic or delicate fabrics (silk, wool) it is prohibited – the dye may fade and the fabric may deteriorate.
- Be careful when removing the hot bag from the microwave. Let it cool slightly before opening.
- The method is great for express cleaning between scheduled washes or for dealing with difficult stains. But it does not replace the need for regular hygienic washing at high temperatures.
This life hack is a real lifesaver for emergency cleaning of kitchen textiles and allows you to quickly restore freshness to the most hopeless towels.
