The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (UGSU) sent, on Friday morning, a message in which it draws attention to the risk of falls due to ice, in the context where, in some areas of the country, temperatures of -15 degrees were also recorded.
“After an extremely cold night in most of the country, watch out for the ice! One wrong step can lead to a fracture. Leave your shoes at home for good weather… on the ice it's about grip, not style! Use winter shoes, non-slip insoles and walk carefully to avoid falls,” IGSU representatives wrote on Facebook on Friday.
Also, IGSU made a call for the removal of snow or ice in front of buildings. “Removing snow, ice and icicles from the front of the house or company is not only a civic duty, but also a legal obligation!”.
In Banat, Crişana, Maramureş, Transylvania and in the mountains, the temperatures dropped on the night of Thursday to Friday far below the freezing point, reaching -15…-10 degrees Celsius.
Romania is under a weather warning of strong wind, blizzard snow and frost. The authorities announced, on Friday morning, the first measures in the areas affected by the weather alerts.
