France will postpone this year's G7 summit to avoid a scheduling conflict with the mixed martial arts (MMA) event planned at the White House on June 14, they told the publication political two officials directly involved in the organization of the G7.

Initially, Paris had announced that this year's meeting of G7 leaders would take place from June 14-16 in the town of Evian-les-Bains, on the shores of Lake Geneva. June 14 marks both Flag Day in the United States and President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.

However, Trump announced in October that there would be a “big UFC fight” at the White House on June 14.

Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White confirmed to CBS News on Thursday that the logistical details of the event have been finalized. White said the event will gather up to 5,000 people on the South Lawn of the White House.

As a result, the G7 summit will now take place on June 15-17, local publication LeMessager initially reported.

Is the start of the 2026 World Cup postponed?

On June 11, the FIFA World Cup is set to kick off at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City with the match between host country Mexico and South Africa. Or maybe not?, asks the German daily BILD.

  • The World Championship will debut in an expanded format, with 48 teams, the participants being divided into 12 groups of four. From each group, the top two teams, as well as the best eight third-placed teams, will advance, thus forming the 32-team knockout stage;
  • The tournament will feature a total of 104 matches over 38 days, making it the longest World Cup in history. The program from the World Football Championship, here.

According to the quoted source, FIFA is waiting, after the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, and wants to see what Donald Trump's decisions mean regarding the tournament organized by Mexico, the USA and Canada. The American president's statements also targeted a co-organizing country: “Mexico must come together, because drugs are flowing through Mexico, and we will have to take action.” And this has led to speculation that WC 2026 could turn into a neighborly conflict and an organizational fiasco. Bild made 3 scenarios, HERE.
