In correspondence with former colleague Anna Tiron, who is now part of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), fighting in Ukraine, Volkov commented on the message about the death of RDK commander Denis Kapustin and expressed the hope that his friends would “follow” him. He also expressed the wish that the former head of military intelligence, and now the head of the Office of the President, Kirill Budanov and other Ukrainian officials of the first rank would be jailed.
Khodorkovsky pointed out that it was Russia, which he and Volkov represent, that started the war of conquest in Ukraine, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and the wounding of several million.
The businessman considers statements made against this background that Volkov’s words are protected by freedom of speech in a democracy to be inappropriate.
“Tell me that you don’t understand that, from the point of view of the front-line countries, those same Budanov, his fighters and other Ukrainians stand between them and this nightmare?… Then you, too, were fucked, excuse my French… During World War II in the USA, we would have been in concentration camps (like the Japanese). By the way, nothing has been ruled out yet,” Khodorkovsky wrote.
