The President of the National Management Council (CNC) of the AUR, Petrișor Peiu, criticizes both the Government and the Presidential Administration for the fact that Romania agreed to the EU-Mercosur agreement. Peiu supports in a reaction published on the party website that Romanian farmers will be seriously affected by this agreement and says that the authorities in the country have acted against the “national interest”.

Petrișor Peiu, who is also the leader of the AUR senators, says that “the agreement promotes the exports of industrial EU states to the Mercosur market, on the other hand it is a devastating blow to Romanian farmers and those from other EU states, who will not be able to withstand the unfair competition of agricultural products from the Mercosur states, which will freely enter the EU market”.

“The act of national treason of the Dan-Bolojan regime is all the more deplorable because without Romania's vote the blocking minority would have met and the signing of the agreement would have been rejected. The Romanian ambassador should have at least abstained”, according to Peiu.

And PSD, which is part of the governing coalition, spoke of “an act of betrayal” and directly accused the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), led by Oana Țoiu, from USR.

“Nicușor Dan dealt a serious blow not only to Romania, but also to the European Union”

Petrișor Peiu says that “the Dan-Bolojan regime” acted against Romania's interests and in the absence of an obvious national mandate, “since there was no public consultation, Romanian farmers' associations spoke out against signing the agreement, and the Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin-Ionuț Barbu informed that he did not sign the Memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Economy regarding the signing of the EU-Mercosur Agreement”.

“It is humiliating for our national dignity that under the leadership of Nicușor Dan Romania acted against its national interest as a tool of France, in the political interest of French President Emmanuel Macron. It is well-known that President Macron supports the globalist agreement with Mercosur, but chose to pretend that he opposes the European Council, in order to save his position in France, threatened by Mercosur opponents”, according to Peiu.

“President Macron allowed himself to treacherously imitate the opposition, knowing that he was relying on Romania's vote”

The leader of the AUR senators says that the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, “allowed himself to perfidiously imitate the opposition, knowing that he relies on Romania's vote to gather the qualified majority necessary to approve the Mercosur agreement.”

“In this way, Nicușor Dan dealt a serious blow not only to Romania but also to the European Union, whose future and cohesion are endangered by the Mercosur agreement, just as his current advisor Dacian Cioloș as the European Commissioner for Agriculture caused Brexit, for the sake of supporting France's agricultural interests,” Peiu said, among other things.

Petrișor Peiu says that Dacian Cioloș is a “presidential adviser” / How he explains

The AUR leader says that “the main people responsible for the act of national treason are the president Nicușor Dan, the prime minister Ilie Bolojan, the minister of economy Radu Miruță, the minister of foreign affairs Oana Țoiu and the presidential adviser Dacian Cioloș”.

Currently, Dacian Cioloș is not a presidential adviser. Contacted by HotNews, Petrișor Peiu said that the expression was “a figure of speech, coming from the ambiguity of Cioloș's presence as an honorary adviser. We also consider the historical closeness between the two. He was an honorary adviser at Bolojan, when he was acting”.

On May 19, President Nicusor Dan, who had not yet taken the oath, but had won the elections, said that in his team at Palatul Cotroceni there will be more people from outside the current political class, who will work, in particular, on the economic strategy. On the external area, Nicușor Dan also advanced the option for Dacian Cioloș to be his advisor, considering the experience of the former prime minister in Romania's relationship with France.

AUR specifies that “the main persons responsible for the act of national treason are President Nicușor Dan, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Economy Minister Radu Miruță, Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu and presidential adviser Dacian Cioloș”.
