The Department of Emergency Situations issued a series of recommendations for the population, in the context in which meteorologists issued several orange and yellow code warnings of blizzards.

Weather alerts target phenomena such as blizzard snow, visibility below 100 m, wind intensifications and snow cover, but also strong wind intensifications.

“Three are valid today, until 23:00. However, they will be extended by three more codes: one yellow and one orange (until 10:00) and another yellow code warning (blizzard) until 15:00,” DSU said.

Under these conditions, the authorities issued a series of recommendations to the population to be safe:

“Avoid non-essential travel: Do not hit the road in blizzard or heavy snow conditions. If you still have to go, check in advance that the route is passable and there are no blocked roads,” DSU said.

The DSU also recommends car preparation: “Make sure your vehicle is fully equipped for winter: all-season tires, snow chains, shovel, squeegee and a supply of fuel.”

“Beware of strong winds: Avoid passing or parking your car near trees, poles, billboards or buildings with construction elements that can detach,” the DSU draws attention.

If you get stuck in the snow, DSU recommends not leaving your vehicle unless you see a nearby building and calling 112 immediately for assistance.
