I don’t spend money on baking powder for the dough – I make it myself: 3 seconds and a couple of improvised means – and you’re done

Baking powder makes any baked goods softer, more tender, and crumbly. For example, it is an essential component of manna, cupcakes, sponge cakes, and various pies. Baking powder for dough is inexpensive, but, as luck would have it, it tends to run out at the most inopportune moment. And if such a problem occurs to you and you no longer have time to run to the store, then do not despair – prepare the baking powder yourself. The authors of the TV channel “Housewife's Tricks” (18+) talk about how to do this.

So, to prepare homemade baking powder, prepare the following ingredients:

  • citric acid 1 tsp;
  • soda 1.5 tsp;
  • starch 4 tsp.

Mix all the ingredients and that’s it – your homemade baking powder is ready! And I didn’t have to spend money and run to the store.

Question and answer:

  • How else can you make baking powder at home?

Replace starch with flour. Combine flour, soda and citric acid in proportions 12:5:3.

  • How to store homemade baking powder?

Store the product in sealed bags in dark and dry places.

  • Do I need to add baking powder to pancake batter?

Thin pancakes bake well without baking powder. Thick flatbread-style pancakes can be prepared with baking powder to prevent the batter from remaining soggy.
