The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) wrote in the section “Across our region” contains small materials about various events that took place in the region. For example, a small article “Meeting of Children with Writers” tells how writers B. Miller and I. Bronfman visited children from the lower grades of school No. 2. At the meeting, writers read their works. Comrade Miller read an excerpt from the fairy tale “About Three Pilots” (0+), and Bronfman read his poems from the cycle “Motya the Naughty” (0+). Little listeners interrupted the writers' reading several times with joyful applause. The students thanked the writers for the meeting and asked to visit school more often.
The next article from the section is dedicated to the gathering of the best students of the city. It's called “Gathering of Excellent Students.” This rally took place at school No. 1 in the city of Birobidzhan, and 60 excellent students attended. During the event, reports were made by the head of GORONO and the excellent students themselves. The guys talked about their academic successes and shared their experience of social work in schools and pioneer detachments. After the meeting, the excellent students watched the film “Heroic China” (0+).
Informs about the organization of a drama club in Birobidzhan note “Citywide Drama Club”. The initiator of the creation of the “advanced type” circle was the regional committee for arts affairs. The circle is led by theater workers. L. M. Kaganovich vol. Friedman, Gross, artist-director Comrade Goldfand. The circle consists of two branches – Russian and Jewish. There are 50 people in the circle.

The section “About our region” included messages from regional newspapers. The newspaper “Stalin's Way” (12+), (then the newspaper “October Dawns” (12+) published the article “Agitation Campaign”. It talks about the campaign of a six-person propaganda team along the In-Aur route. The purpose of the campaign is to carry out extensive information work in preparation for the All-Union Population Census. The participants of the propaganda campaign visited two patrol stations and 13 track barracks.
The newspaper “Stalin's Appeal” (then the newspaper “Iskra Khingan” (12+)) reports about the hard work of one of the region’s artels. Here's what the note says: “The Smolokur artel (Birakan) fulfilled the 1938 production plan by 140.2%. The artel received a profit of 206 thousand rubles.
During the year, 39.106 rubles were spent on cultural needs. The earnings of artel members increased by 2-3 times compared to 1937.
In the “Birobidzhan Star” for January 8, 1978, under the heading “Vacations, vacations…” A selection of notes has been posted on how schoolchildren in the region will spend their holidays. One of them, for example, talks about trips on tourist packages to different cities of the country: “520 high school students took the Fakel train along the route Birobidzhan-Volochaevka-Khabarovsk-Komsomolsk-Vladivostok. The children will get acquainted with the places of revolutionary, military and labor glory of the Far East, visit museums, and meet notable people.
Several groups of schoolchildren flew on excursions to Moscow, Leningrad and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
The children from the Birakan and Babst schools have long dreamed of visiting Vladivostok. There they will spend several days, visit the local history museum named after. Arsenyev, an art gallery, a submarine museum.”
The note “Relaxing with the whole class” reports that during the winter holidays at the Lenin Secondary School a playground was organized for children in first, second and third grades. “From morning to evening, children have an exciting time here with their teachers. The children go skiing, sledding, and organize fun sports competitions.
The children really enjoyed the performance of the Novosibirsk Circus on the stage of the regional House of Culture.”
The following note talks about an interesting program for the winter holidays for students of Nikolaev Secondary School No. 17. “Ninth and tenth graders will visit the Khabarovsk printing plant, the Ordzhonikidze oil refinery, and the enamel plant.
Excursions will help in consolidating material in chemistry, physics, and in vocational guidance.
And the red rangers of the school will visit the grave of the civil war hero I. Protsenko in the village of Kalinovka. This hike ends one of the search operations.”

At the XXVIII Smidovichi District Party Conference, the work of the district party organization during the reporting period was analyzed, and the results of the development of the national economy of the region during the years of the Ninth Five-Year Plan were summed up.
The region's industry completed the 1973 plan ahead of schedule. Products worth 528 thousand rubles were sold in excess of the plan.
Additionally, more than 3 million pieces of bricks, about 2 thousand pieces of sleepers and many other products were sent to the national economy.
Agricultural workers successfully fulfilled socialist obligations to sell grain, soybeans, potatoes, vegetables, milk, meat and eggs to the state.
During the reporting period, 159 people were accepted as candidates for membership of the CPSU, including 112 workers.
The conference participants elected a new composition of the district committee of the CPSU and the audit commission.
