Gigi Becali was betrayed by his cousin: “He made me lose trust”
In an intervention on the Digi Sport Special show, Gigi Becali spoke openly about this episode:
“I don't trust any man anymore, I don't. In MM (no – Stoica) I do, but I'm speaking in a general way. What has happened to me lately has made me no longer trust anyone. Because of one man. His name is Virgil.”
Asked if it was his first cousin, the FCSB boss confirmed.

FCSB boss, about Virgil Becali: “I loved him like a brother”
Becali explained that the relationship between the two of them was an extremely close one, and the betrayal from a person in whom he trusted completely surprised him:
“I never had anything against him in my life and I loved him like a brother. And this man made me stop trusting people. I still love him, but I don't trust people anymore because of him”, declared Gigi Becali, FCSB boss, without specifically revealing what Virgil Becali's betrayal consisted of.
“Keychain” Virgil Becali is the man who noticed the Colombian Toja
Virgil Becali is Gigi Becali's first cousin and, although less known in the public space compared to other members of the family, he was inseparable from his small circle. Nicknamed “The Chancellor” or “The Keychain”, Virgil was Gigi's confidant for many years. When the boss at FCSB still paid the players directly out of pocket, Virgil was the man designated to collect the money.
Virgil Becali also had a say in the acquisition of a player at FCSB. The Colombian Juan Carlos Toja, brought in 2008, from Dallas, was noticed on DVDs even by Virgil Becali.
Juan Carlos Toja collected 64 games, 4 goals and 6 assists in his two years at FCSB.
