The American company SpaceX, owned by technology magnate Elon Musk, has made the Internet available free of charge to Venezuelans via the Starlink telecommunications satellite system.
As SpaceX authorities announced on social media, people living in Venezuela will be able to use free access to broadband Internet until February 3.
In a short statement Elon Musk expressed hope that thanks to the capture of Nicolas Maduro, Venezuelans will finally be able to achieve the prosperity they deserve.
Musk has been a critic of the regime in Caracas for years. After the 2024 elections in Venezuela, he repeatedly accused Maduro and his inner circle of rigging the presidential elections.
In interviews, Elon Musk pointed to the mismanagement of the regime led by Nicolas Maduro, noting that the authorities in Caracas are unable to use the benefits of Venezuela's wealth of numerous raw materials.
On Saturday morning, the US military carried out a series of strikes in Venezuela in order to capture the country's leader, Nicolas Maduro, and put him on trial in the US.
As a result of the military operation, the Americans arrested his wife, Cilia Flores, along with Maduro. The two were flown to New York on Saturday, where they are scheduled to appear in court on Monday on drug and terrorism-related charges. (PAP)
