The National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) until 2030 with a perspective until 2040 will be updated in 2028 – informed the Minister of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, on Radio Zet. He did not rule out an increase in the share of onshore wind energy if it is legally or administratively unblocked.

“We would very much like this energy sector (onshore wind – PAP) to be unblocked. When this happens, there will probably be an update (KPEiK), and in 2028 there will be an update of the national plan. I would like us to be able to say then – maybe after changes in the law, maybe with changes in decisions at the level of the general directorates for environmental protection, that there will be more onshore wind energy in the system – said Motyka.
He noted that the Ministry of Energy will strive to achieve this and will be in contact with representatives of industry organizations, including PWEA, which points to a decline in energy prices with a higher share of wind energy in the mix.
Today we have common limitations – the president's camp, which thinks completely differently – noted the head of the Ministry of Energy.
Alarming price forecasts
In December, the Ministry of Energy published the updated National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) until 2030, with a perspective until 2040. The document assumes an increase in energy production from renewable energy sources to 51-53%. in 2030 and up to 65-68 percent in 2040. The previous document in the version of the Ministry of Climate assumed nearly 80 percent in an ambitious scenario. Renewable energy by 2040
The Polish Wind Energy Association assessed that the new version of KPEIK is an administrative impediment to the development of wind energy. It emphasized that the ME proposal limits the planned capacity from onshore wind farms to 20.4 GW in the less ambitious WEM scenario, instead of the 34.5 GW proposed in the previous version of the NECP, and in the field of offshore wind energy, the proposal reduces development plans to 11.8 GW from 18 GW.
PWEA estimated that with a low share of wind energy, the wholesale price of energy in 2040 will increase to PLN 724/MWh, and in the scenario based on a higher share of wind on land and sea, prices drop to PLN 282/MWh in 2035 and remain stable at approximately PLN 336/MWh in 2040. (PAP Biznes)
