The deputy of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, who was captured by the US on Saturday, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, is in Russia, Reuters reported on Saturday, citing four sources. This information was denied by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov.

According to Reuters, Rodriguez appeared in a recording broadcast on state television earlier on Saturday, in which she demanded evidence that Maduro and his wife Cilia were alive.
The Russian TASS agency, quoted by Reuters, reported Lavrov's statement that the news that Rodriguez was in Russia was false. Russian media added that Lavrov spoke by phone to Delcy Rodriguez and assured her of “solidarity in the face of armed aggression.”
According to Reuters, which cited three independent sources in this case, Delca Rodriguez's brother, Jorge, who is the president of the Venezuelan parliament, remains in the Venezuelan capital Caracas. Reuters emphasized that the head of the National Assembly has not appeared in public since the start of the American operation. (PAP)
