The Romanian police announce that traffic is difficult on Sunday morning in several counties in the country due to the snow. Authorities say that in most cases no traffic restrictions have been imposed, but they are urging drivers to drive with caution.

Traffic is hampered due to snowfall in 14 counties, where traffic is “on a road partially covered with a thin layer of snow”, according to the Romanian Police: Arad, Argeș, Brașov, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Gorj, Hunedoara, Mehedinți, Prahova, Timiş, Vâlcea and Vrancea.

The authorities state, however, that no traffic restrictions have been imposed in these counties for the time being. “In the rest of the counties it is raining, the road is wet, traffic visibility is good”, according to the authorities.

Traffic restrictions on DN 6, in Caraș-Severin

Due to the snow and the snow-covered road on a section of approximately 1 kilometer, road traffic is restricted on DN 6, in the area of ​​Domașnea, Caraș-Severin county, being diverted through the town.

The authorities are working to clear the snow, according to the Romanian Police.

On several roads in Brăila county, there are reports of rain, precipitation in the form of rain and negative temperatures. And here they act with anti-slip material.

How to drive on the A1 Bucharest-Pitesti highway

On the A1 Bucharest-Pitesti highway, on the kilometer section 49 – 148, the road is wet due to the snowfall.

On the other main roads, namely the A2 Bucharest – Constanța and A3 Bucharest – Ploiești highways, it is raining, visibility is good, and traffic values ​​are low, the Romanian Police also reported.

Tips for drivers

The Romanian Police also sends a series of tips to drivers who go on the road during this period:

  • Before you set off on your journey, find out about the weather conditions and the restrictions imposed on the route you are traveling!
  • Ensure good visibility from the vehicle by cleaning the windshield, rear window and side windows, drive at a speed adapted to the traffic and road conditions so that you can carry out any maneuver safely, use the engine brake to reduce speed!
  • For moving on road surfaces covered with ice, ice or snow, road legislation stipulates the obligation to equip vehicles with winter tires.
